Staying In Your Lane
The issues of the world can feel overwhelming, but nothing can overcome or overwhelm the grace and love of God made real through Jesus Christ. What we have is a personal relationship with the Saviour of the world - the King of Kings who brings a message of hope for a broken world. I urge all of us to ‘stay in our lane.’ As we follow Jesus, and keep our focus on the ministry of the gospel, we can be confident that we are in the right lane.

Celebrating Christmas
Celebrating at Christmas is both a normal and extremely strange practice. My wife Jenn and I had all three of our kids during the Advent season. That provided us with some interesting insight as it reintroduced us to the normalcy and absurdity of the whole Christmas story.

There are Three Sides to a Coin
By looking at COVID in the church as a two-sided issue, I had almost missed the much larger picture of what ministry in COVID meant. When I invested in this ‘third side’ I began to discern my role as a pastor in a pandemic.

Rebecoming Human
To be truly human is to experience “life to the full” as Jesus spoke of - fully immersing ourselves in the messy and indelicate milieu of human relationships and experiences that require things of us rather than just serving our own needs.

The Medium is the Message
Marshal McLuhan is famous for the quote “the medium is the message”, the idea being that the media through which we communicate determines how we understand the message making the medium more important than the message being communicated.

Digital Discipleship
Covid-19 has brought on a new generation of ministry, requiring us to shift how we reach those we minister to livestreams, video meetings, and messaging are just some of the tools we have been forced to work with in this season of pandemic that is filled with social distancing and self-isolation. A question lingers in this new reality – can we actually disciple people in an online environment?

A Note from the Moderator
As I was thinking about what to write for the newsletter my mind kept going back to the last part of the SKMB vision statement “We see a Church passionately in love with God, led by His Spirit on mission, bringing Jesus’ Gospel of redemption and restoration to the four corners of Saskatchewan”. I then started thinking, what is needed to accomplish this. There is a whole list of things that come to mind but for me one jumped to the forefront – people.

Take A Vacation
I think summer is here. I am not sure we're allowed to say that before May long weekend, but I am saying it because the sunburn on the back of my head/neck has officially informed me that the summer has arrived. My guess for many of us is that with its arrival comes some vacation time.

Missional Clarity
It’s been estimated that in the next 10 years, 9,000 churches will be closing their doors for the last time. We take comfort in the reality that Jesus builds His church, that He is faithful and that nothing can stop His mission from advancing.
