"Supporting SKMB Churches and Camps in making disciples."

Easter In Yorkon

In 2018, Parkland Community Church made the difficult decision to keep its doors open to the community because of its rich history of developing people who love Jesus and serve others. Recommitting to that mission of the church, we set our sights on the two Canadian events that recognize the importance of the church: Christmas and Easter.

This Easter, in our efforts to reach our surrounding community, our local church congregation prepared to host a community breakfast. We printed and hung 500 door hangers around our community, designed and created sandwich board signs, and created a Facebook page to invite those online in our area, all in order to serve our community.

Making the invite to non-church or de-churched members of the community can be a difficult ask. However, our congregation has been doing the courageous work of inviting their family, friends, neighbours and coworkers to church to hear the gospel and walking along side them. Over our three-week Easter Series, we’ve had 12 first time guests, some having not been in a church service for several years. It’s a very encouraging time for a small church of 30 people. We hope you will join us in praying for those who heard the gospel of Jesus for the first time, seeing them journey from death to life

The invite to come to Jesus is still the most powerful tool we have at our disposal. We are witnesses and stewards of the gospel; beggars showing other beggars where to find food as Blair Allen of the Compass Church puts it. We are here to develop people who love Jesus and serve others for Kingdom growth!
