Prayer For Our Government

Lord God

Remember those who today govern our country,

our prime minister, cabinet ministers,

and members of parliament.

You have ordained these leaders for such a time as this.

We ask that wisdom be granted to these men and women.

May they govern with patience and prudence.

As they draft laws and policies,

give them keen insight and understanding.

Give our country's governing leaders servant hearts.

May justice and moral integrity prevail among them.

Remind them of the poor and the broken.

Embolden them to do what is right and shun evil.

When they succeed, may they do so with humility.

When they fail, bless them to fail forward,

to learn and grow from their mistakes.

We pray for the peace and prosperity of our nation.

We pray that our government will steward our resources well.

We pray that those who govern us would look to you for help.

Remind us to submit to those in authority over us,

to give respect to whom it is due.

Impress upon our hearts your love for our political leaders,

teach us to offer grace toward those who govern.

Lord God

Under your sovereign economy,

in harmony with your perfect will,

pour out upon our governing leaders your favour.

Amen.
