At our 2022 Pastor/Leader & Spouse Retreat in Banff there was significant dialogue that took place about forming a greater degree of support for spouses of pastors/leaders in ministry. Without question this need has blossomed during the years I have served as Director of Ministry. SKMB would like to engage in a constructive exploration of this ministry partner support. Pastors/leaders are invited to have a conversation with their spouses (ministry partners) about their specific need for personal support. SKMB would encourage ministry partners to share the outcome of such conversations with Janine Gunther at janine-mps@skmb.ca.
The opportunity to create a support mechanism for ministry partners is here, just waiting for people to step in and share their need and perhaps their willingness to participate. Such support could look like online or in-person sharing and prayer times, on-line or in-person seminars and even retreats. SKMB is considering including such a service in our strategic investment 2023 portfolio. Such a move would provide seed monies to start this venture.
Janine is hoping to develop a contact list (email and cell). If she could obtain your ministry partner’s email address, this would be helpful in keeping the conversation moving forward. Again, please send this information to Janine directly at janine-mps@skmb.ca.

I then started thinking, what is needed to accomplish this. There is a whole list of things that come to mind but for me one jumped to the forefront – people.

Take A Vacation
I think summer is here. I am not sure we're allowed to say that before May long weekend, but I am saying it because the sunburn on the back of my head/neck has officially informed me that the summer has arrived. My guess for many of us is that with its arrival comes some vacation time.

Missional Clarity
It’s been estimated that in the next 10 years, 9,000 churches will be closing their doors for the last time. We take comfort in the reality that Jesus builds His church, that He is faithful and that nothing can stop His mission from advancing.
