Prairie Prayer Space

“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” - Colossians 4:2

We live in a ‘new normal’ where we are witnessing both unprecedented change and uncertainty.  We are also seeing the Spirit of God move in fresh ways in the hearts of people, both in the church and in the community.  These are days of great opportunity for those who call Jesus Savior and King!

In school safety training one was instructed, if on fire, stop, drop and roll.  Today, we are surrounded by a fire of anxiety, worry and fear.  There is great wisdom in the midst of this new reality we live in to stop striving, drop to our knees, and roll out our prayers before God.  Toward that end Ryan & Terri Epp from Multiply and the SKMB office are teaming up to call the SKMB community to prayer.

We will be hosting a weekly prayer meeting on Wednesday evenings from 7-8pm CST. We often will begin with a short time of visiting and reconnecting, then spend most of our time reading God’s word together, voicing our prayer requests to God and giving Him space to speak to us and draw us closer to His heart. Our desire is that this meeting would not be just another resource to attend virtually, but that everyone who comes would be able to engage in a meaningful way as we focus our attention on The One who first loved us - God Almighty!

As a means to keep everyone updated and to provide the actual link to join the Wednesday meetings we will also be sending out a weekly prayer update which will include past themes, answers to prayer, calls to continue praying and the outline for the current week’s prayer meeting. It will also include a link to join the meeting, if you are interested in the Wednesday night prayer meeting or want to receive the weekly prayer update please reach out:

We need believers to rally before the throne with prayers, confession, petitions and thanksgiving.

“Do not abandon yourselves to despair.  We are Easter people and hallelujah is our song.” - Augustine

Significant Conversations

One of the major impacts of COVID19 is the government’s restrictions pertaining to physical distancing and large gatherings. This has resulted in the need for leaders to find creative ways to provide care and accountability to those under their oversight. Whether you do this through Zoom, emails, Facetime, Skype, texts, or phone calls there is still the opportunity to make these connections substantive and meaningful. Two ways to continue to foster healthy and maturing disciples during this time of non face-to-face encounters is by using significant and thought- provoking questions as you connect with people, as well as by offering helpful resources to empower them to take initiative in their journey toward spiritual growth and maturity. Good questions and good resources, offered with great attention, grace, and compassion, can lead to good outcomes.
