How can I support our camps?

Redberry Bible Camp and West Bank Bible Camp are ramping up for their summer ministry.  Summer staff are being trained, grounds are being prepped, and equipment is being checked to make sure everything is working properly.  Soon hundreds of children and teens will descend upon these two camps anticipating a time of fun, meeting future friends, and making cherished memories.  Our camps need the support of the wider Christian community to operate.  This is a mission field as many of the campers will never have gone to a church, possess a Bible or ever heard the gospel.  What are some practical and tangible ways we as the supporting faith community can support these camps?

1. LEARN – Take time to explore the ministry these two camps.  Discover who the fulltime staff are.  Learn about the camp’s vision and what they offer campers.  Explore their values and goals.
2. PRAY – Pray for the fulltime and volunteer camp staff.  Pray for their safety, health and strength as well as wisdom.  Pray that campers might have open hearts to hear and receive the gospel.  Pray for the spiritual protection of the camp.  Ask the Holy Spirit to move in the hearts of staff and campers.
3. GIVE – Donate monies for the camp’s operation.  Also, often camps will have particular asks; contact them.  It may be things like cookies, lumber or office equipment.
4. SERVE – Encourage those in your family or church to consider serving at the camp as volunteer staff.  Consider serving yourself.  Camps need cabin leaders, maintenance workers, office support and kitchen help.  Again, contact the camp and ask where they need help.
5. ENCOURAGE – Find creative ways of encouraging those who are serving at camp.  Give fulltime camp staff a call and thank him for their ministry.  Send them a text or email.  Mail them a card.  Such efforts really make a difference in the morale at camp.
