In Good Standing

What does it mean for an SKMB member church to be in good standing?

Being in good standing is more than meeting organizational requirements. It is a reflection of a church’s commitment to Christ, the MB Confession of Faith, and the life and mission of the SKMB.

THE SIX CORE COMMITMENTS

01 CONFESSION OF FAITH

Adopts, adheres to, and practices the M.B. Confession of Faith.

02 SKMB VISION & MISSION

Affirms and supports the SKMB vision and mission, including the constitution and bylaws.

03 PARTICIPATION

Participates in the life of the SKMB community through attending the annual Assembly and other similar events.

04 FINANCIAL PARTNERSHIP

Contributes financially to the SKMB work (3.75% of local church giving).

05 CHRISTIAN WITNESS

Demonstrates a good witness of Christ and the church in word and behaviour.

06 RESPONSIBLE STEWARDSHIP

Safeguards SKMB from legal and financial liability.

BEYOND THE REQUIREMENTS

There are other common-sense aspects of being a member church in good standing:

• Advocating for unity within the Conference as much as possible at the local church level.

• Respecting and supporting SKMB leadership (staff and volunteers).

• Promoting the mission and ministry of SKMB within the local church.

• Abiding by the Conference’s pastoral credentialing practices.
