Representatives of the National M.B. Faith & Life Team and provincially appointed representatives gathered at Camp Squeah (B.C.) on September 20-22. The task of this theological congress was to discern the nature of revisions to Articles 12 and 13 of the M.B. Confession of Faith. Article 12 (Society and State) and Article 13 (Love and Nonresistance) were identified for potential revision by participants at the 2025 EQUIP Conference in Winnipeg. Phil Gunther (Director of Ministry), Stephanie Christianson (Chair, Faith & Life Team), Rod Schellenberg and Harry Strauss (special appointees) represented SKMB at the event.
Led by Ken Esau (National Faith & Life Director), the gathered theological M.B. congress invested significant time to prayer, worship, and careful discernment around the need for revision of Articles 12 & 13. Scripture was studied, individual reflection was heard and weighed and special presentations heard. For[PG1] example, Stephanie Christianson presented an historic journey of the Anabaptism-Mennonite Brethren regarding their engagement with peace-making. Participants were presented with draft Articles 12 &13 for their input. Robust dialogue took place on both submissions and much clarity arose as a result. There was incredible unity and good will evident between all those gathered.

The collective input was compiled and reviewed by the National Faith & Life Team after the congress. Revised draft Articles 12 & 13 will be created and further processing will take place at by provincial Faith & Life Teams, and then eventually at provincial assemblies in 2027 before making their way for a national special conference.
Should we include the reasons why we might revise the confession according to the policy?

Advancing The Kingdom On Our Knees
Throughout history and across the globe the kingdom of God has advanced dramatically by special outpourings of the Holy Spirit. These outpourings, often referred to as “awakenings”, “revivals”, or “renewals” produced faithful disciples in quantities and with lasting effects which can exceed the imagination of those who have not witnessed them first-hand.
