The SKMB Development Leadership Team (DLT) supports individuals from SKMB churches to engage in leadership development opportunities that will equip us to grow as disciples on mission together.

Bursary Award Guidelines

1. Accredited Theological and Ministry Education
Bursaries of up to $750 available (depending on full-time equivalency).

  • College (eg. CMU, CBC, Horizon)
  • Seminary (eg. MB Seminary Briercrest, Horizon)

2. Non-Accredited Mennonite Brethren Programs
$250 - $500 bursaries available depending on FT equivalency

  • Thrive Discipleship
  • Camp Leadership Training
  • Multiply Initiatives

3. Local Church Discipleship Initiatives 
$100 bursaries available

  • Workshops
  • Retreats

Internship Support Guidelines

1. What Kind of Internship?

  • Accredited Theological and Ministry Education
  • Non-Accredited Mennonite Brethren Programs
  • Local SKMB church discipleship or leadership training initiatives

2. Internship Length

  • Less than 4 months - $750 financial support ($500 if less than 10 hours per week)
  • 4 - 6 months - $1250 financial support ($625 if less than 10 hours per week)
  • Greater than 6 months - $1500 financial support ($750 if less than 10 hours per week)

Award Criteria

  1. Bursaries are available to active participants in the life and ministry of a SKMB church.
  2. Applicants interested in receiving a bursary must complete an application and provide requested supporting documents. Applicants may also be interviewed by a member of the LDT.
  3. No internship applications will be processed between January 15 and March 15.
  4. An applicant may apply for one bursary per year.
  5. Applicants will receive notification regarding their bursary application within a month of its submission. Internship applications normally involve more time to process.
  6. Burseries and internship financial support is subject to available funds.
  7. LDT may take into consideration financial need of the applicant. The LDT can alsomake exceptions to guidelines in unique circumstances if the mission of SKMB is served best by doing so.
  8. Concerning church internships, there is a strong expectation that the SKMB internship award will at minimum be matched by the respective church.
