Leading Through Change

The three-day Leaders Cohort at Redberry Camp  (September 24-26) brought together five pastors and ministry leaders for an immersive learning experience on the theme “Leading Through Change.” Facilitated by Dr. Steve Brown, president of Columbia Bible College, the sessions blended practical leadership frameworks, assessments, reflection, and shared learning in Redberry’s unique camp setting.

Dr. Brown guided participants through key frameworks designed to help leaders navigate transitions with wisdom and confidence. Topics included assessing both individual and organizational readiness for change, identifying what your change is, and exploring the dynamics of change within organizations. Through teaching, discussion, assessment tools, and coaching conversations, participants examined their own ministry contexts and considered how to initiate adaptive change effectively.

Not all our time was spent in sessions, however. We managed to fit in an archery competition where Redberry Camp Executive Director, and cohort participant, Dave Carey, put on a clinic and reminded us what focus under pressure looks like!

Key outcomes included renewed clarity on how to approach change and actionable plans for gaining momentum in implementing it. Each participant developed a six-month action plan.

Next steps include a mid-year virtual check-in and a spring gathering to track progress, celebrate wins, and refine practices for ongoing leadership development.

Thank you to the team at Redberry Camp for hosting this event. The meals, lodging, and space for our sessions were first-rate.

Equip Update

As I was flying home to Saskatoon from the CCMBC Equip Conference on “The Kingdom, The Gospel, and Peacemaking” in Winnipeg, I looked out my window to see Winnipeg as we took off. From high in the air, Winnipeg looked crisp, organized, and intuitive. Everything “made sense” and I could clearly see which roads were main arteries of the city as I watched the flow of traffic.
