The Church and QR Codes

In our culture, with so much information being shared everywhere, we often find ourselves using many platforms to spread our messages. This includes church bulletins, announcements during services, weekly emails, texts, and social media—all because we hope our message reaches everyone. I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve shared something, only for someone to ask why it wasn’t included. I remember one time, people sitting in the front row looked at me when I announced something, and then wondered if I had forgotten to mention it!

One challenge we face is that access to information keeps changing. Some prefer reading a church bulletin, while others like digital formats. To accommodate this, we've added four QR codes on the seatbacks in our Sanctuary—linking to the weekly bulletin, live translation, newcomer info, and ways to give. We are still working to improve and update these resources, but they offer a simple way for digital access from your seat.

The seat back QR codes are printed on a synthetic polyester paper called Synaps, which is waterproof and tear-proof, and then adhered with double-sided tape that does not leave residue. The investment is fairly low cost as we try out this approach to making our communications accessible.
